Some experience in leadership or management is preferable but not required.
Do I need to take the courses in a specific order?
You must begin by taking Inspiring Leadership Through Emotional Intelligence. The next three courses can be taken in any order.
Will I earn university credit for completing the Specialization?
Coursera courses and certificates do not carry university credit, though some universities may choose to accept Specialization Certificates for credit. Check with your institution to learn more.
You will be able to experiment with new styles and approaches to leading others, as well as developing leadership capability in yourself and others.
What are the major assignments in these courses?
Each of the courses in this Specialization rely heavily on exercises and reflective activities. Although there are readings and Forums in which to participate, the personal learning and action learning assignments in each course is where the learning comes alive and useful.
What is the coolest thing about these courses?
In these courses, you will delve into the mysteries of the human experience of leadership. You will learn how to overcome the ravages of chronic stress to become more open to learning and change, and to renew your body and mind (not to mention your heart and spirit). Yes, many modules in the courses include reflective exercises and action learning assignments to help you understand and experiment with the ideas at work and at home in your life. You will learn techniques for renewal, inspiring hope and vision, engaging mindfulness, spreading compassion and being playful – building your emotional intelligence and improving your relationships! You will learn techniques for motivating, inspiring, and coaching others, and improving your relationships! You learn about the issues surrounding women in leadership positions, reflect on your perception of your best self, identify your key values and strengths, and be better able to chart your path from where you are now to where you want to be.
* Will I be able to design possible research studies to build on the latest research?
Yes, the causal relationships developed through current and most recent research will be explained. These will enable you to identify possible research designs for your own future research.
