Program overview

You’ll need a total of 120 credit hours to earn your Bachelor of Science in General Business from UNT. You’ll undertake 42 core hours, 24 pre-business and professional development hours, 36 advanced business hours, and 15-18 elective hours to achieve your goal. Your studies will focus on broad business disciplines like economics, accounting, finance, business analytics, information systems, management, and marketing. You’ll also have the opportunity to choose a concentration in either management or marketing to tailor your learning towards a particular career path.

  • English Composition and Rhetoric, 6 hours, 2 classes
  • Mathematics, 3 hours, 1 class
  • Life and physical sciences, 6 hours, 2 classes with labs
  • American History, 6 hours, 2 classes
  • Government/Political Science, 6 hours, 2 classes (TX government is required)
  • Creative Arts, 3 hours, 1 class
  • Language, Philosophy and Culture, 3 hours, 1 class
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences, 3 hours, 1 class
  • Component Area Option Courses, 6 hours, 2 classes

B.S.G.B. Pre-Business/Lower Level Foundation Requirements (21 hours):

Students must complete the following courses with a grade of C or higher.

Basic Business Foundation Requirements (21 hours):

Advanced Level Business Courses (15 hours):

Students must complete the following courses with a grade of C or higher.

12 hours of upper level business courses from approved list
Applied Business Project Course or Internship (3 hrs)

Electives:

Minimum of 18 hours of free electives or enough free elective hours to reach required total of 120 hours for the degree. Number of electives varies depending on course selection for University Core.

Research Design: Inquiry and Discovery The main purpose of this course is to focus on good questions and how to answer them. This is essential to making considered decisions as a leader in any organization or in your life overall.

Contemporary Biology This course is an introduction to biology as it applies to our everyday life. Learners will explore the interplay between science and self through a personalized case study of themselves and their environment.
