Positive conflict as I see it is something that should be maximized, how it can affect the teams it allows individuals to express their thoughts, their feelings and their opinions, in a way that they know they won't be judged. The ideas are taken for themselves. And that allows a more collaborative working environment for all members of the team. And in that regard, then any individual's blind spot, thought they hadn't considered, an angle they hadn't considered is reduced dramatically, so I think you get a better result the more positive conflict you have within a team. So high performance teams by definition are those teams that can accomplish things by working together. The key there is have a team that has a lot of positive conflict within the team, and therefore, they can develop those collaborative solutions. So you have to develop a sense of trust with the people you're working with, among the team, so that they can feel comfortable saying what they want to say and that they know, that the issues are resolved for themselves. There is no personalities involved other than the common goal of resolving whatever conflict is at hand. I guess well first we'll have to take a look at power. Power is something that's given. You don't automatically have power. Either it's given to you explicitly or implicitly. If someone is introduced as your supervisor, you may give them power automatically, because they have authority over you. You're subordinate to them. If a police officer rolls up on a scene of an accident, they're going to be automatically be given power. So, but power can have an aspect of domination if it's taken in a bad context. So when I think of power and conflict, I think in the terms of defining power as someone who has the ability to influence an outcome, to influence action. So, in that context, if I feel that I'm working with someone who has power, in a positive sense, it allows me to open up and trust that their power will allow something to happen, will allow a resolution to come about. And at the same time, power can also be looked at as the ability to prevent something from happening. So that could be preventing something negative to happening. So I see power, as it relates to conflict, to be a positive thing, if used, obviously, in the right format.
