Welcome to the cruzeiro moke, Specialization on social entrepreneurship. This first course identifying social entrepreneurship opportunities, is made up of five modules. In which we will take you over 5 weeks, from problem analysis to opportunity identification. After you finish this first course, you will be able to move on to the second course in the specialization. Which is called social business modeling. My name is Kayla Hatts, and I'm your principal lecturer in this cruzeiro MC. Before we get started, I would like to talk to you a little bit about Covidwise, this is a project that we have just launched. Now on the 1st September of 2022, we open a new chapter in this muc. When we launched back in 2014, our moke on social entrepreneurship was the first one globally. Now in our 7th season, we have decided to completely revisit the material in this moke. To address the biggest test of our times, the Covid crisis. The societal challenges caused by the Coronavirus are daunting. Social entrepreneurship, will play an important role in addressing them. We call this phenomenon, temporary Covid social entrepreneurship. And I would like to look at you, as a participant in this course to be a part of that. Over the next weeks, we here at CBS will, in cooperation with professors all across the world. Research and upload detailed information on the biggest economic, health and social problems related to Covid. We will document inspirational cases, of temporary Covid social entrepreneurship. We will make available, a dedicated team of mentors focused on supporting you in starting temporary Covid, social, entrepreneurship. And finally we will run a competition, in which we will identify the best examples, of temporary Covid social entrepreneurship. That emerged from the moke. This course is your chance to be part of something, that fights back against this virus. And that shows that human ingenuity, entrepreneurial spirit and compassion, can overcome the biggest crisis. In each of the five modules of this course, I will provide a short introduction. In which I will talk about how the topics addressed in the videos, can help you to get Covidwise. So what is at stake here? Even if a vaccine was available tomorrow, the social and economic impact of the covid crisis. Is likely to linger for probably up to a year. Firstly, we need social entrepreneurship to make sure, that vaccines actually make it to all beneficiaries in the world. Secondly, the economic effects of the crisis are still getting worse. Jobs lost in the service industry, are not going to bounce back immediately. Many small businesses on the brink of bankruptcy, need support now. And at the same time, the inequality in societies have increased even more. Social entrepreneurship can help here and so can you. This is what we will focus our energy on, in the coming months, and so can you. As a team of Covidwise mentors will help you, set up your very own temporary social entrepreneurship project. And find a team as well as funders. Now, without much ado, let me hand over to my younger self with this course introduction. Then we uploaded seven years ago, when we first launched this course, enjoy. I will be back to talk about Covidwise, at the end of today.
