[MUSIC] So, welcome to the second week of MOOC two, Professional Skills for International Business. This week, we'll be exploring a number of areas, the first of which is about how you can become a role model in the workplace. What a role model is and how the concepts of being a role model apply to where you work. So, I hope you'll learn some key hints and tips from that part of this week. Our second objective is to recognize the critical aspects that you need to understand and embrace when looking to become a managerial role model. The words understand and embrace are really important because all of us can read about this things it can be slightly different when we really need to start reflecting around, which you'll have every opportunity to do, how different parts of being a role model apply to you. And take that opportunity to honestly reflect and say am I really a role model in all of these respects? If so then yes, how can you become better? If not quite yet, then what is it you can do in reality to become more of the type of role model that you aspire to be? We'll then be moving on to explain how a manager can align their behavior with organizational expectations. So in other words how you, if you're in a managerial role, or managers in your organization in which you work or have worked. Align what they do With what an organization expects them to do. Because quite clearly, a managerial population needs to be working in a coherent way and in a combined way with where that organization is looking to go. Otherwise, it's just not going to work, or at least it's not going to work to optimum. And then finally this week, you'll be analyzing a range of styles and approaches that are available to managers as they aspire to be role models. Here again you'll have the chance to reflect because you'll be looking at a wide range of techniques some of which you might already do. Some of which you'll see other managers in your workplace do. Some, perhaps, effectively, some, perhaps, not quite so effectively. But either way, when you look at these different styles and approaches think about which ones you do and how well you do them. Think about different styles and perhaps say do you know perhaps I could embrace some of that and do it well. Or alternatively, you might look at some approaches and say that's not perhaps who I want to be or perhaps not something I could do at all or even want to do. So in other words, you can make an informed choice. But either way, you'll have the chance to reflect and think about what is going to work for you and work for you well as you aspire to become a managerial role model. As you navigate through this week, you'll have regular opportunities to answer questions which will reinforce key parts of your learning and you'll also have a scenario to work through followed by a series of questions, which are assessed, which will also bring together key elements of your learning that you've covered so far in this MOOC.
