It is also critical for leader development that centers on improving your skills and performance. You've learned about the nature of self-awareness, that it can be stimulated by feedback about your performance. The feedback itself is not however, fully formed as self-awareness insight. You are also required to think a great deal about what it means for your development. This is the process of self-reflection. This week, you will examine the nature of self-reflection, what it is, what is involved in the process. The two methods of reflection, how can talking and writing contribute to self understanding? The issue of emotional management associated with self reflection. As you can appreciate, when you learned that you are not doing something well that you need to improve your skills and performance. There is the potential for some emotional reaction. I don't want to hear that or it's not about my skills, or the problem is somewhere else. Without considering how you can manage these potential emotional reactions, your self reflection efforts may be defeated even before they get going. The importance of managing emotions to help improve your self-awareness and the process of reflection of feedback also leads into the skill of emotional intelligence.
