Great. After explaining the overview of course,
which technology is still rifting the legal sector and the law firms,
explain in which areas are changing the rules,
and also which companies in a startup are already working there?
Now, the next step is how you start the business,
how you become an entrepreneur,
how you does the first step to your new project.
We're going to talk about being an entrepreneur,
the first step for your company,
and also I'm going explain some basic concepts
that if you jump in the entrepreneur world,
you must know because you need to know those concepts.
First of all, become an entrepreneur.
I have already incorporated more than 10 companies.
Yes, more than 10 projects and also I have invested
more than 10 other projects from other entrepreneurs.
I never thought that I want to become an entrepreneur.
I just do it.
My first project or my first company was in the high school.
I didn't realize and I never
build up a business plan or I never go out meeting of the startups or entrepreneurs.
I just want to earn some money because I want to have a motorbike and I want to pay
my expenses and I just imagine an easy way to get money,
and very important, not work for another company,
just create my own project.
It was just delivering ads, paper ads,
to each home, go into each home and put papers and giving papers.
That was my first project,
but I will repeat,
I never thought I want to become an entrepreneur.
When I create my biggest project,
derecho.com and also avogado.com,
I never write a business plan.
That is very important that,
what's the reason that I just created my own company?
Because I was working in a corporation.
I was working in Arthur Andersen then,
why I jumped from a safe place to an unknown place?
It was my passion.
I wanted just to do one thing.
I want to change the legal sector online because I see an opportunity.
When I come back from working to my home,
I was doing that because I love that.
In weekends, I used to work in my project.
It was not a job, it was a passion.
That is very important to understand that if you just want to become an entrepreneur,
probably you're going to work 24 hours.
Why you jump from a very safe place,
a corporation, a very big company,
to your own company that probably there is a lot of risks.
It's just passion that you don't want to earn money.
You want to do what you love,
and that, for me, it's the best,
best, best times were.
And there was a second one.
The second one is one day I thought, "Okay.
I don't want just in the next year,
when I become old, and look back and say,
'What had happened if I just try my idea?'"
I will repeat. I don't want just when I become old,
just to look back and ask myself,
"What had happened if I just try my project, try my idea?"
Then, that was the clue to say, "Okay.
I want to start my project because it's my passion."
Great, but that is my history.
But what happen if we just try to imagine what move,
some of the traits that entrepreneurs was that you probably know,
for example, Steve Jobs in Apple.
It was just passion. They don't want to become rich.
For example, what happens if we think about the people who create Google,
the two entrepreneurs that create Google?
They don't think about a business.
They didn't just want have a solution to a big problem.
They were investigating how to solve the search problem on the Internet.
Or, what happened with probably the richest man in the world?
Amancio Ortega, the owner of Zara, the clothes retail.
They don't talk about the big corporation.
They just first opened a little store in his town.
What happened, for example, Mark Zuckerberg from Facebook?
They were just having fun creating a service for their community in the university.
They didn't think about what's or which reason do you have to incorporate it,
to create a business and to become
an entrepreneur because being an entrepreneur, have two sides.
The first one is the well-known and happy side,
that is you have a lot of money.
You become great. You can manage your time.
You are your own boss.
That is great, but a lot of startups fail and don't rise at the moment.
There is a very hard work.
There is the black side when you run out of money,
when you don't have free time,
when you need to work 24 hours a day,
when you take all your problems to
your home and share those problems with your pillow when you sleep.
That is the dark side of being an entrepreneur and you need to know.
But why someone don't have problems to pass through that dark side?
Because he's moved by an idea or by a passion that he has and that's it.
Where you can reach more information?
There is a book, a very interesting book,
is "The Hard Things About Hard Things."
That is written by one of the most important investors.
I repeat, "The Hard Things About Hard Things" from Ben Horowitz that
explained that two sides of being an entrepreneur.
If you want to become an entrepreneur in the legal tech sector,
you need to know that you need to be moved by a big idea and
big passion because you will need to work very hard to have success.
In the next video, I will explain the first steps for starting the business.
Okay, you have already decided that you
want to become an entrepreneur and have a business.
I will explain the first steps for your new project.
