Good job, I'm finishing your story boards, storytellers. You are well on your way to creating your digital story. This week you will be putting together one of the most important components of a digital story. Welcome to powerful tools for teaching and learning digital storytelling, week three, recording audio narration. Week three, we will focus on how you can record audio narration that will be used in your digital story. We will examine some of the most common types of microphones and recording devices that you can use to record the script you wrote. We will also demonstrate how to record and edit your digital audio files using Audacity, which is a free audio recording program available for Windows and Macintosh computers. Of course, if you prefer, you may use any audio editing program to record and/or edit your narration. The most important thing to remember is that recording your own voice is a key component of the digital storytelling process, since it explains the information you are presenting and provides a personal touch to your story. We feel strongly that this part of the process should not be overlooked. We will also explore how you can find and download, appropriate music that supports the theme of your story. We will focus on music that is in the public domain or is free of copyright restrictions, so that it can be used in your digital story legally and at no cost. The video lectures this week cover many different ways that you can record your audio narration using different devices. The videos also cover how to edit your audio using the free software Audacity, once you've finished the recording. We've also provided material on how to find creative commons music, if you decide to use music in your digital story. Finally, we also have included a collection of sample narrations from past digital stories for you to listen to. This week's assignment requires that you record, edit, and submit your audio narration file for your digital story. Adding music to your narration is optional, however, we feel that having some music in your digital story can really help bring it to life. Your audio file must be submitted in one of these formats. Once you have completed the assignment, you will need to provide feedback for the work of three of your peers. Finally, head over to the discussion board to share your reflection on the audio recording process. Upon completion of your audio, you should now have all of the components needed to assemble your digital story. Have a great week storytellers, and I look forward to hearing the recordings from all of you. [MUSIC]
