Hello, storytellers. Now that you have defined the topic and purpose of your digital story it's time to take off and truly begin construction of your digital story. Welcome to Powerful Tools for Teaching and Learning Digital Storytelling. Week 2: Writing an Effective Script and Creating a Storyboard. [MUSIC] In Week 2, we will focus on script writing, storyboarding, and creative commons. We will begin by discussing the steps in developing and writing a script for the digital story you will create in this course. We will explore the basic elements of the script, such as character development, tension building, and resolution. Then, we will also examine the importance of selecting appropriate images and creating a storyboard. You will learn, not only the functions and the sequences of the storyboard, but also the most useful ways to locate images such as using photos taken with a digital camera, and images downloaded from the Internet based on the size, quality, type, and usage rights. By the end of this week you will begin to understand the important steps and elements of script writing. And be able to envision your story script in a visually interesting storyboard. The video lectures this week are designed to help you plan out your digital story. The topics covered are scriptwriting, storyboarding, creating commons, images and copyright. Additionally, text-based resources are provided for further study of these topics. We have also included a collection of different kinds of storyboards from past students that you can take inspiration from. Once you have reviewed the course content, you're ready to begin Assignment 2. Write your script and create your storyboard. Using what you learned this week, you will construct and submit your own storyboard for the digital story you plan to create. Remember that your storyboard must include the entire text of your script and the visuals that you will use in your story. Once you submit your storyboard you must provide feedback to three of your peers' storyboards. Finally, head to the discussion forum to reflect on the storyboarding process with your peers. After this week, you will have a detailed plan for creating your very own digital story. Remember that your script and storyboard can still be altered in the upcoming weeks, and it does not need to be set in stone at this point. Have a great week, storytellers. And I look forward to reading about all of your digital stories. [MUSIC]
