One of the key take home messages of this course is the understanding that especially daily rhythms are a property of possibly all organisms. In addition, when we look into a single organism, such as ourselves for example, we would find that major functions and behaviors are clock regulated. In the second half of this introductory lecture Martha will tell you about clocks in animals, plants, fungi and bacteria. You will get an idea of the processes that the circadian clock regulates in these diverse organisms. By seeing the breadth of circadian regulation across the kingdoms of life as well as within a single organism. You'll see what we mean by rhythms structuring life. [SOUND] [SOUND] [SOUND]
