Hello, I'm Kristin Meekhof, I'm a licensed Master's-level social work author and life coach. And I'm very honored to be with you today, to be given the opportunity to be able to share with you some things about ways to live your best life. And one of the things that really is impacted me is having a great honor and privilege of having Doctor Deepak Chopra as my mentor and friend as well. And in 2014, I was really lost, trying to get my book off the ground, and getting a literary agent, and not knowing if I'd ever have a publisher. And I remember walking through my living room at that particular time, and actually, although I had not read any Deepak's books, hearing his voice on the television, because it's very, very strong presence. And Oprah was actually interviewing him on a repeat episode of her show, and I sat down and listened. And she said to him, if there is one thing that you can do to change the way that you live your best life, what is it? And he said, meditation. And she said, well, how does one start if you haven't done this before? And he said, start with om, O-M. And she says, that all? And he said though, that is one of the most powerful syllables that one can use. So I thought to myself, you know, he's not selling anything, I haven't read any of his books, there's nothing to download, I had nothing to lose. So the next morning I started with om, simply sitting down in front of my window and meditating. And the stars didn't open up and the heavens didn't present to me a book plan or literary agent, but I started to feel different as I was doing this. And unbeknownst to me, I grabbed the attention of Doctor Deepak Chopra through social media, and we started to communicate through email. And less than eight weeks after I started that practice of om, I was in his office in New York City, one to one with him. And it was at that point after meeting me, I didn't tell him anything about my book project or anything, but he agreed to be my mentor, and we became friends. And another valuable lesson, aside from meditation, that he taught me that I do every morning as well are these three things. In a journal, literally in a journal, he said to write this, I am and then fill in whatever that means, and the second thing is, what I desire for my life and then write some things down, and the third thing is, what I desire for my life today. And what's happened and what I've noticed, is that it really helps me to form an intent each day, and that's something that he has also taught me. But it's also helped me, I believe, to be able to live the very best life that I can moment-to-moment, as well as in my daily schedule, and the bigger picture as well. And the third thing I want to share with you that Doctor Deepak Chopra has been so gracious in really teaching me and in working with him, I've seen and I've noticed something that a great leader does. And he's a business leader, as well as an educational leader, as well as a leader of mindfulness, and that is is that he remains open and teachable, and I've seen it time and time again in meetings, and in in personal emails, and business emails. Which he will say and he completely means it, please teach me, please show me, please tell me about this, because he's willing to be a student, a student of life, a student of businesses, a student meditation, and he is willing to learn more. And when you become a student of life and you're willing to be open, to be really honest with yourself about what you don't know because we all have blind spots, and becoming teachable to the end, it really does help you to live your very best life. As I just want to present those things to you as perhaps options that you would like to integrate into your life, because I know that it's made a complete impact and me being able to live my best life.
