Hello everyone, I am Jessy Kang from the Department of Civil Engineering of Taiwan National University. Right now I am so pleased that the CAD/BIM specialisation is finally available for you on the Coursera platform. I have been teaching Engineering Graphics in Taiwan National University for ten years now, and I have been doing research on visualisation. In the past two years, I have also launched Engineering Graphics Courses on Coursera. I put all these experience and knowledge together, and I also put together a powerful production team, including my outstanding students and assistants. We meticulously designed a well-structured and profound specialisation course. This included four of my Engineering Graphics classes: Engineering Graphics 2D CAD, Engineering Graphics 2D Project, Engineering Graphics 3D CAD, and Engineering Graphics 3D Project. We expected to let you understand the concepts, from 2D drawing to 3D modeling, from theory to practices, through my talks and my detailed demonstrations. We pray that not only you will learn this subject, you will learn it in a thorough manner. My classes will be followed by three extremely brilliant classes of BIM technology and application, brought to you by Professor Patrick Hsieh. We have put in a great deal of thoughts to design these three classes. The first, aimed to let you build a foundation, so it offers understanding of basic concepts and knowledge. And of course, it also includes some simple application of the software. However, its main focus is the way to find information from the models. The second class will let you build models with the software yourselves. Because BIM modeling is still the basis of all applications. The third class we will extend from these two bases and teach you how to apply the BIM skills on some quantitative calculation, to simulate the progress of a project. Lastly, I would like to emphasise that, our Capstone class is in association with ARUP, the most well-known engineering consultant company in the world. That means, we hope to integrate the theories and knowledge we teach and tackle the problems ARUP faced in the real engineering world. I believe a specialisation course such as this, from fundamental theory, detailed project and a Capstone such as this, will let everyone master this skill and more importantly, apply it in the real world.
