In recent years, owing to global competition and greater need of customers for safety, durability, and reliability of products, there has been a considerable tendency to improve quality in various industries. In this regard, fatigue is one of the major reasons of industrial failures, which is sometimes caused by lack of awareness or attention by the designer and other parts of industry like R&D. The aim of this course is to introduce MSc graduates, Ph.D. students, and engineers working in industry with a short review of the basics of fatigue in different fields of engineering. To this end, it is attempted to express the general concept of the phenomenon using unconscious reactions of the human body to daily works and then to illustrate other aspects through simple examples. The topics cover common challenges that engineers should consider to study the causes of component failure. The contents of this course include 12 years of my activities and experience in academic and industry. In summary, I recommend that the following steps be taken to understand these lessons fully. • Take the online class; • Do a testing exam at the end of each week to make sure you have a good understanding of the content; • Do your homework and submit it for evaluation; • After finishing the online course, you will enter the final exam....

It helps you undesrtand fatigue phenomenon in general and make some calculations for fatigue life and design for fatigue, although it could be taugth deeper. But it provides you with knowldege to improve life and design for fatigue.

This was my first course in Coursera cours. This course allowed me to consolidate some of my previous knowledge about fatigue research field. Thank you Coursera, Thank you Kazem

The course by itself is very informative. The contents were however at the beginner level. The language of the course must be significantly improved. Some questions in the assignments were vague.

The course has one (and only one) undeniable positive quality: the given overview introduction to fatigue is extremely useful and allows to structure the understanding of this topic. The course content is very good.

But there are a lot of negative aspects:

1) Poor quality of english, which is very difficult to perceive by ear. It is clear that the lecturer is not a native speaker, but there are people who can tell this course instead of him. Just listen to the wonderful non-native (!) English - Andrew Ng.

2) The endlessly looped background music is just as annoying. This is a video course, not printed lectures, so the quality of the audio and video content should at least be good. But not in this case.

3) Special pain are the Quizes. The almost half of the questions contain the main message: "Which of the following statements is not true?" A good example is Test # 4, in which almost all the questions are like this. Can't you reformulate them in clear language?

Other questions are absolutely useless and require literally memorizing lectures: "All of the following parts are connected to the steering knuckle, except ...". A course about fatigue, not a steering knuckle! Why should I remember this information?

4) And, of course, the final test. It requires third party software that is no longer available. And for some reason, this fact does not bother the lecturer. He simply sends replies to the forum. I had to solve problems with third-party software.

J-rain software is unavailable for a lot of months. Nobody cares about it. It was very tricky to finish final quiz. I used several attempts to find the right number of characters after the separator in one of the questions until I got one in the answer.
