課程概述

This course is an introduction to decision-making criteria widely used in the real world and will help you understand the foundational principles of how most organizations make decisions. This course is part of a specialization titled “Foundational Finance for Strategic Decision-Making” and is helpful if you are interested in applying to an MBA degree program or learning the foundations of finance to be more effective in your career. This course is applied and problem-based with assignments that are intentionally introductory and simpler than real-world applications you will confront when making day-to-day financial decisions and in more advanced courses....

An excellent course for decision making criteria and an intuitive as well as practical course for such concepts as IRR bench marking, cost of capital etc.

The course was the perfect segue to the first course, and Professor Kaul is one of the best educators I've had the previlege to learn from.

However, I believe that the assignments would be more fruitful if the exercises had an increasing order of complexity. In most assignments, the first or second exercise was usually the most complex and time consuming, and that may be demoralizing to some extent. Also I think there should be a bigger difference between the PA's and the Quizzes exercises, it's usually just changing the input values with little to no additional thinking.

The discussion and examples regarding NPV and IRR was very clear. It was also a good overview of project and business cash flows.

Another good course in the specialization.

PROS: The Professor will teach concepts in depth, and will not simply teach you how to apply formulas; Quizzes are nice and challenging; you can wrap up the entire course in 2 days (not recommended).

CONS: The course content is very limited, I was expecting a lot more topics to be covered (like the weighted average cost of capital, and/or free cash flows)
