I obtained my PhD at the University of Bern in 2007 and am currently senior researcher in the Hydrology and Climate group at the Department of Geography, University of Zurich. My main research interest is centred on water in the Alps and in mountain areas world-wide. Within this wide topic, I try to answer questions concerning water resources and natural hazards (first of all floods). I’m also particularly interested in changes in the Earth system, especially as regards climate, land use and population. My work is mainly based on hydrological modelling and on records of observed data, as well as on practical experience in hydraulic engineering and natural hazards assessments.
